TEMPLE VIEW

This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva at Perur. This temple holds the specialty from the 2nd century and built by Karikala Chola. This temple is known by different names like Kamadenupuri, Pattipuri, Adhipuri, Daksha Kailasham, Gnanapuram, Kalyanapuram, Pirava Neri Thalam, and Western Chidambaram. The temple has several gopurams and halls which are for “Kanaka Sabha”, the one with the golden statue of Natraja. The spot named Arasambalavanar shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva and it is believed that he performed his Thandav under a peepul tree. Each year the temple celebrates a classical dance week, Bharata Natyam. The distance of 200m situated on the point of Noyyal River. Several special rituals happen on each and every day. Prayers of the people to the name of the Lord, fame for the success in their endeavors.

EVENTS

Every year in the month of Panguni, Panguni Uthiram, the temple car is decorated grandly and taken around the nearby streets and returns to the temple. A pond is located opposite of the temple and it is used for the ding important rituals. Margazhi Tiruvadhirai is the important festival during the month of December-January. Panguni Brahmmotsavam and float festival in March-April. Aani sapling planting utsav in June-July are other festivals.

DARSHAN TIMINGS

The temple is opened at certain timing in a day. People from far places also visit this temple. Sometimes there may be huge crowd during some festivals and the process of performing the rituals.

TEMPLE’S SPECIALITY

The foot print scar of kamadenu the divine cow is visible on the head of shivalinga in the temple. There is a tamarind tree in front of the temple known as piravapuli meaning that its seeds will not germinate sown. There will be no worms in the cow dung in the surrounding area.
